Contract is appropriate for projects where the scope is known and the factors affecting conveyor operations (e.g. continuity of flow of material) are controllable.
The form of contract can vary from a fixed price for a fixed scope of work to daily or tonnage rates depending on the preference of the client.

While ship loading is the most common application to date for transferring from one mode of transport to another, unloaders can be used alone or in combination with other conveyors to transfer from road to rail, from road or rail to barge (or vice versa) or from road to site transport.

Seasonal or project applications would suit a contract arrangement and ensure that the appropriate equipment was available when required.

Projects with long-term requirements for material loading, unloading, placement or any combination of those factors also suit contract arrangements where MCS is responsible for the equipment maintenance and operation and assists in the planning.

Materials can range from concrete to gravel to sand to soil and landscaping materials. The belt can be quickly cleaned, allowing multiple materials to be placed on a project using the same machine.

Ship Loading
Ship Loading

Ship loading is commonly handled under contract, where the volume to be loaded is known and the flow of vehicles bringing the bulk material to port is well controlled.

A truck unloader and telescopic radial stacking conveyor are generally part of every ship loading, with link conveyors sometimes required if the most convenient truck unloading area is some distance from the ship.

MCS has the fleet size and diversity to supply machines that are matched to each other in throughput capability and to cover most circumstances.

Early planning can ensure that project is optimised to the space available and other constraints, ultimately resulting in lower costs.
